About us - the Villas Macondo Team
So this is Tom, the owner. He built up Villas Macondo in 2001 and still manages the place with all his heart and soul. Originally from Germany he decided after working and travelling all over the world that Costa Rica is a great place to work and to live. After two years working as a manager in a big hotel at Playa Tamarindo he made up his mind to do his own business - all at once realizing a long tended dream. Villas Macondo is therewith a mixture of all impressions and influences of his travelling. Macondo - the name of his place- has it's origin from the book of Gabriel Garcia Marquez "one hundred years of solitud" - one of his favourite books.
Our youngest team members Angie and Carolina are working at the reception. We are absolutely glad they joined us. Angie lives in a village nearby. She gave birth to a little boy in summer 2006 and studies english. "Caro" -originally from Argentina- lives in Tamarindo in our "Casita". They both love to take care of you! Sometimes our guests spend even more time in the reception then in their rooms -:)

Cruz and Hancel -our room maids- are true gems! They are always in a good temper. Our guests love them because of their kindness and of course they do a real good job! Both have families and live in the villages nearby.
Alvaro and Jose our handymen are also taking care of the garden and keep an eye on the pool. Franklin is our guard in the night and helps you with any problem you might have during the nighttime - even if it's just lightning up your way. They are very reliable and we can count on them in all respects.

During the time of the years Villas Macondo adopted some pets: "Theo" was lying there in front of an apartment. We decided to adopt him - or let's say he adopted us. Since that time he belongs to the "family". He is very trusting, loves to rest inside the whole day and is always looking for someone to pet him - if it's possible 24 hours a day. Now he has something else to do: chasing our new member: Felix the cat. He showed up in October 2006 and decided also to stay -despite Theo. Normally he is lying just in front the common kitchen - Guess why...?!
